Rhode Island Energy is looking for Interns who can help us provide strong, reliable, affordable electric service to more than a million customers in Rhode Island, while adapting to new opportunities that are changing our industry. As an Electric Service Operations Intern, you will support the Customer Fulfillment team in delivering exceptional service to external customers requesting electric service. You’ll gain hands-on experience in utility operations, customer engagement, and project coordination while contributing to real-world service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Rising junior senior or grad student enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree in finance, accounting or business from an accredited college or university program.
  • GPA requirement: 3.00 or higher
  • Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Travel within the service territory may be required.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will:

  • Assist in managing customer requests for electric service, ensuring timely communication and resolution of basic inquiries.
  • Support the processing of service contracts and agreements to facilitate construction work.
  • Help validate and process non-utility billing and CIAC (Cost in Advance of Construction) estimates.
  • Contribute to the design and cost estimation of simple electric service projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are met and service level agreements are upheld.
  • Participate in team meetings and cross-functional initiatives to learn best practices and contribute ideas.

  • Training in utility billing systems, service design tools, and customer relationship management.
